Softball Recap: Granite Falls' Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Friday Harbor on Monday, Granite Falls came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coupeville Wolves on Tuesday. The Tigers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Wolves' pitcher proved too tough.

Bella Frye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Granite Falls saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Haverfield, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Haverfield has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

With the defeat, Granite Falls broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8. As for Coupeville, their win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Granite Falls didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-5 loss against Cedar Park Christian on the 8th. Coupeville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
