 The Floyd Central Jaguars were not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They took a  46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belfry. Floyd Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belfry apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in December of 2023.
 Floyd Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Maddy Engle, who  scored 11 points along with six  rebounds. Engle is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was  Riley Compton, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 11 points and nine  rebounds.
 Belfry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Clara McNamee led the charge by  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and 14  rebounds. It was the first time this season that  McNamee  scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jenna Sparks, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on nine points and 12  rebounds.
 Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Belfry, the  win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-13.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will take on Pike County Central at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. One thing working in Pike County Central's favor is that they have posted big  point totals  in their last four matchups. As for Belfry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Knott County Central at 7:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Belfry is on a three-game streak of home wins, Knott County Central a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
