Softball Recap: Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs vs. St. John's Cadets
Georgetown Visitation Prep extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They lost 18-3 to the St. John's Cadets. The Cubs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cadets from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Ainsley Kovarik was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
As for St. John's, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Considering they have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On St. John's side, they got a massive performance out of Hazel Fontenot, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. What's more, Fontenot posted two runs, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chloe Armiger, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.
Looking ahead, Georgetown Visitation Prep will welcome National Cathedral at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John's has already played their next match (against Bishop McNamara), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
