Basketball Recap: Jefferson Independent Day's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Jefferson Independent Day suffered their closest defeat since January 23rd on Thursday. They fell just short of the Jasper Eagles by a score of 48-46. The loss put an end to the Cavaliers' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day still got an impressive performance from Kohl Thurman, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and seven blocks. Thurman is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yousuf Mokhtar, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jefferson Independent Day fell to 2-1. As for Jasper, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Independent Day will venture away from home to square off against Lockwood at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jasper, they will head out to face off against Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
