Football Recap: Somerset Academy - Canyons Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Somerset Academy - Canyons unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers on Thursday.

Somerset Academy - Canyons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kameron Gillion and Davontey Oliver.

Melbourne Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grady Bonenberger led the charge by picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores. What's more, Bonenberger posted two receiving touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brogan Mcnab, who threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Coming up, Somerset Academy - Canyons will head out on the road to challenge Somerset Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th.
