Basketball Recap: Merino Comes Up Short

Merino lost against Wray back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rams took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Alex Trejo was the offensive standout of the game as he posted 14 points and six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Wyatt Fonte was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Merino's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wray, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Merino will look to defend their home court on Friday against Highland at 7:00 p.m. As for Wray, they will take on Ulysses in a tournament on Thursday.
