Softball Recap: Garrett Comes Up Short

Garrett dropped to 9-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Central Noble Cougars by a score of 1-0. The Railroaders were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.

As for Central Noble, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those one runs were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

On Central Noble's side, Garrett's batters probably weren't too happy with Grace Swank, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 21 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Swank has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Coming up, Central Noble will square off against Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garrett will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' game: after the Cougars face off against the Falcons, they'll take on Garrett again at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
