Volleyball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short on the Road Against Providence

Avon had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Providence Pioneers. The Orioles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Avon ultimately came up short, they really made Providence work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 27-25, 25-22.

Avery Walter paced Avon's offense, picking up 14 kills. Walter got some help from Cali Pence and her 26 assists. Sarah Dieringer and Stella Hamood kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Avon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Castle on the 16th. As for Providence, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lawrence North on the 16th.
