Baseball Recap: Byron Center Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Byron Center waltzed into their match on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Saline Hornets 7-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Connor Devito looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Byron Center saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Booth, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Byron Center's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Saline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-6-1.

Byron Center and Saline should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 49th) will meet Caledonia (ranked 239th) at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Saline will square off against Monroe at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 437).
