Basketball Recap: Foard Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Foard won the last time they faced Statesville, and Jessica Bailey did her part to make sure it happened again. The Foard Tigers walked away with a 53-45 win over the Statesville Greyhounds on Friday thanks in part to Bailey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Leah Akel, who posted four points and three blocks. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Statesville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Symerria Harris, who made all 5 shots she took for 10 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniah Davidson, who earned eight points.

Foard is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Statesville, they dropped their record down to 6-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Foard will head out on the road to face off against East Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in East Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for Statesville, they will challenge West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
