Basketball Game Preview: Vinton County Vikings vs. Jackson Ironman/Ironladies

The Vinton County Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Vinton County was beaten by South Webster 76-44. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while the Jeeps are ranked 38th).

Meanwhile, Jackson scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 79-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meigs. The Ironman/Ironladies' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Vinton County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Vinton County might still be hurting after the 48-28 loss they got from Jackson when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Vinton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
