Recap: Jacksonville Golden Eagles vs. Cleburne County Tigers

The Jacksonville Golden Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They blew past Cleburne County 70-44. Given Jacksonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Cleburne County is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aaron Nixon was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Imoree Young was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Jacksonville is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Cleburne County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will face off against White Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. White Plains will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Cleburne County, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland is on a three-game streak of home losses, Cleburne County a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
