Softball Recap: Northwest Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Gilbert Christian on Monday, Northwest Christian came back down to earth. The Crusaders fell just short of the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles by a score of 17-15 on Tuesday. The Crusaders have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kinsey Unger stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Reuter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Northwest Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Bourgade Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Northwest Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Payson at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bourgade Catholic will take on rival ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
