Baseball Game Preview: Westerville North Warriors vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks

The Westerville North Warriors will face off against the Bishop Hartley Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Westerville North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Westerville North got the win against St. Francis DeSales by a conclusive 9-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Austin Heminger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Emmerson Mason was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Barron Wood also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Hartley suffered their closest loss since March 29th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bishop Watterson by a score of 3-1. The Hawks have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Malcolm Gillies was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Bishop Hartley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Bishop Hartley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Westerville North, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
