Basketball Game Preview: Purdue Polytechnic Techies vs. Beech Grove Hornets

The Purdue Polytechnic Techies will venture away from home to take on the Beech Grove Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Purdue Polytechnic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

Purdue Polytechnic managed to keep up with Indianapolis Arsenal Technical until halftime last Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Techies lost 89-66 to the Titans. The defeat continues a trend for the Techies in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Purdue Polytechnic got top-tier performance from TJ Williams, who shot 42% from the field en route to 24 points along with seven assists and five boards. That was a full 36.4% of the Techies' points, marking the third time in a row Williams has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rob Anderson, who had nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Beech Grove ended up a good deal behind Southport on Wednesday and lost 65-47. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Cardinals are ranked 130th).

Despite the defeat, Beech Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bishop Moore went 5-for-9 on his way to 13 points and three steals. Chace Sellas also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Purdue Polytechnic has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 boards per game.
