It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sylacauga ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Shelby County Wildcats 9-8. The game was the first time the Aggies have beaten the Wildcats on their field since April 4, 2024.

Natalee Deason spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Natalie Moland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Harshberger, who scored two runs while going 3-for-6.

The win snapped Sylacauga's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-14 record. As for Shelby County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylacauga will challenge Munford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aggies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Shelby County, they will take on Comer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
