Basketball Recap: Franklin County Flyers vs. Great Crossing
Franklin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 97-50 loss at the hands of Great Crossing. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Great Crossing this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-34 back in December of 2024.
Malachi Moreno continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Great Crossing, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 13 boards. Moreno is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was LJ Holman, who went 7-for-8 to rack up 16 points.
Franklin County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-12. As for Great Crossing, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Franklin County has already played their next contest, a 57-51 defeat against Frankfort on the 14th. As for Great Crossing, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 117-73 victory against Scott County on the 8th.
