Basketball Game Preview: Athens Bible Trojans vs. Cherokee Indians

The Athens Bible Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Cherokee Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Athens Bible is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Shoals Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flame.

Meanwhile, Cherokee hadn't done well against Tharptown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cherokee escaped with a win against Tharptown by the margin of a single free throw, 33-32. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Athens Bible's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-6. As for Cherokee, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Everything went Athens Bible's way against Cherokee in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as Athens Bible made off with a 31-11 victory. Will Athens Bible repeat their success, or does Cherokee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
