Football Recap: Slippery Rock Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Slippery Rock was feeling good fresh off their 42-13 takedown of Sharpsville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rockets took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harbor Creek Huskies on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Rockets in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

Doug Popovec threw for 73 yards on five of 13 attempts. Jonathan Petras was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

Harbor Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Powers, who rushed for 53 yards and one score, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one TD. Powers also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making two total tackles, and defending one pass. Another player making a difference was Gavin Zillman, who rushed for 65 yards.

Slippery Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Harbor Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slippery Rock will square off against Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harbor Creek, they will take on Girard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
