Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Wolf Pack vs. Wasilla Warriors

The West Valley Wolf Pack will head out to take on the Wasilla Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. West Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

West Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Colony on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-7 to the Knights. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Wolf Pack's highest-scoring contest to date.

Liam Irish made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Finn Lindsey also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, Wasilla got the win against Lathrop on Friday by a conclusive 17-8. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Wasilla let Aiden Perez and Camden Mette run wild. Perez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mette went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Mette a new career-high. LaLo PaLomares was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Wasilla and bumps their season record up to 8-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for West Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

West Valley might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Wasilla in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Wolf Pack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
