Fort Meade and Lake Region are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Fort Meade Miners will take on the Lake Region Thunder in a tournament on Tuesday. Fort Meade's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Lake Region's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Fort Meade will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Lakeland, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Fort Meade walked away with a 7-3 win over Lakeland on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Miners.

Lucas De Amicis and Owen Harrell were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, De Amicis tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Harrell didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he also posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, De Amicis scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Harrell scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Hermelbracht, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lake Region never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lake Gibson with a sharp 11-0 victory.
Like Fort Meade, Lake Region also got a great game from a two-way player: Josh Jenkins. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Jenkins was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Yadiel Echeverria was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Jomar Caceres was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Fort Meade's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lake Region, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.
Fort Meade came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Region in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Does Fort Meade have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Region turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
