Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Grants Pass

Grants Pass lost to South Eugene back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Grants Pass Cavemen walked away with a 57-45 victory over the South Eugene Axe. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cavemen's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Axe are ranked 37th).

Grants Pass' victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for South Eugene, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grants Pass will venture away from home to face off against South Medford at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Grants Pass is facing South Medford at the right time seeing as South Medford is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South Eugene, they are taking a road trip to take on Willamette at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Willamette has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
