Soccer Game Preview: Thatcher vs. Tanque Verde

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Thatcher face off against the Tanque Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday... Tanque Verde took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Thatcher, who comes in off a win.

Thatcher took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Coolidge an 8-0 shutout. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Tanque Verde's offense. They came up short against Catalina on Thursday, falling 4-0. One thing that didn't help the Hawks' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Kason White.

Thatcher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four games. As for Tanque Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Thatcher skirted past Tanque Verde 4-3 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Thatcher repeat their success, or does Tanque Verde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
