Softball Game Preview: Yosemite Badgers vs. Sierra Chieftains

For the second straight game, Yosemite will face off against Sierra. The Badgers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Chieftains at 4:00 p.m.

Yosemite is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sierra by a score of 9-7.

For Sierra's part, Addy Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. Carrillo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexie Valle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dixie Dow, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Sierra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Sierra's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. As for Yosemite, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
