Football Recap: Greenwood Piles Up the Points Against Northside

Greenwood won the last time they faced Northside and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Grizzlies, posting a 61-14 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Grizzlies are ranked 52nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kane Archer had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 68 yards and five scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 285 yards and a pair of TDs. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braxton Canada, who picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Greenwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blaze McDaniel and Travir Shelton. Another thorn in Northside's side was Lawyer Thornsberry, who forced one fumble, made 12 total tackles, and defended two passes.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Warren Bijou, who rushed for 80 yards and one score.

Greenwood's record is now 2-0. As for Northside, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Greenwood has already played their next game, a 43-42 victory against Har-Ber on the 12th. As for Northside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 44-20 loss against Coweta on the 12th.
