Softball Recap: Mountain Crest Wins Going Away Against Sky View

After losing to Sky View the last time they met, Mountain Crest decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mustangs blew past the Bobcats 17-4 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Morgan Coulam was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dani Alexander, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Mountain Crest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mountain Crest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-16 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Sky View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-17.

Coming up, Mountain Crest will head out to challenge Hillcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. Sky View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
