Basketball Recap: Stryker Takes a Loss

Stryker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montpelier Locomotives. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 43-38 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Montpelier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayden Sharps led the charge by putting up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was C.J. Fidler, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Stryker's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-5. As for Montpelier, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stryker will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gorham Fayette at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Montpelier also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Edon at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
