Volleyball Game Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Marcos de Niza Padres

The St. Mary's Knights will square off against the Marcos de Niza Padres at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's will be strutting in after a victory while Marcos de Niza will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Mary's took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Mesquite.

The victory didn't come easy: Mesquite scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Marcos de Niza came up short against Cactus Shadows on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Padres have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marcos de Niza was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cactus Shadows work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 24-26, 27-25.

St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Marcos de Niza, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
