Overton extended their postseason success on Friday against Gary. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bobcats, sneaking past 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Bobcats on Thursday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Rylan Holleman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Holleman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Overton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Gary, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Overton beat the Bobcats by a score of 3-1 later that day.
