Basketball Recap: Clearwater Valley Comes Up Short

Clearwater Valley played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-39 loss at the hands of the Lapwai Wildcats. The Rams lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 99-47 score last time.

Lapwai's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcisio Noriega led the charge by putting up 14 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Laricki George-Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Clearwater Valley and nudges their season record down to 11-7. As for Lapwai, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Clearwater Valley has already played their next game, a 72-62 defeat against Grangeville on the 17th. Lapwai does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
