Basketball Recap: Jackson-Milton Takes a Loss

Jackson-Milton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Mineral Ridge Rams and fell 60-27. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while the Rams are ranked 264th).

Amani Yasin and Emma Hunt certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Yasin posted 18 points, while Hunt scored three points and 11 rebounds. Yasin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Leading Mineral Ridge to victory were Sullivan Sandy and Lily Merolillo. Sandy went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and five steals, while Merolillo had 16 points along with seven boards and three steals. Ava Hulett was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Jackson-Milton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Mineral Ridge, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Jackson-Milton has already played their next contest, a 53-12 victory against Memorial on the 3rd. As for Mineral Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-49 win against Springfield on the 3rd.
