Baseball Game Preview: Arbor View Aggies vs. Basic Wolves

The Arbor View Aggies will venture away from home to take on the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Arbor View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Arbor View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Shadow Ridge, who was ranked 25th at the time (Arbor View was ranked fourth). The Aggies' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Aggies have posted against the Mustangs since April 13, 2018.

Colton Christman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Blais, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jase DeSantis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Basic earned an 8-4 win over Liberty on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Basic also got a great performance from Lincoln Evans as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Matthew Kelley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Tate Southisene was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Arbor View's record is now 9-5. As for Basic, their record now sits at 11-4.

Arbor View suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Basic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Aggies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
