Softball Game Preview: St. George's Gryphons vs. First Assembly Christian Crusaders

The St. George's Gryphons will head out on the road to challenge the First Assembly Christian Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. First Assembly Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on St. George's, who comes in off a win.

St. George's took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Harding Academy get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Gryphons in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, First Assembly Christian is still winless after their game against Harding Academy on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-16 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lions. On the bright side, the 16- run performance marked the Crusaders' highest-scoring contest to date.

St. George's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for First Assembly Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

St. George's might still be hurting after the 15-8 loss they got from First Assembly Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Gryphons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
