Baseball Game Preview: Crestview Bulldogs vs. Webster County Trojans

The Crestview Bulldogs will take on the Webster County Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Crestview will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Crestview's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Bath County. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Crestview got a great performance from Landon Baggett as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Jace Jernigan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Cantrell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Webster County finally came back down to earth on Sunday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (11-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Crestview pushed their record up to 8-13 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Webster County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
