Baseball Game Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Maple Heights Mustangs

The Euclid Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Maple Heights Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Euclid fell victim to East and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to East. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Maple Heights made easy work of Warrensville Heights on Wednesday and carried off a 21-7 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Maurice Haggins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 12 over 4.1 innings pitched. Haggins was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maple Heights got a massive performance out of Devin Leeson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Leeson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Mosley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Maple Heights now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Euclid, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Euclid skirted past Maple Heights 12-11 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
