Basketball Recap: Colby Mullinax's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thomas County Central over Northside

After flying high against Coffee last Monday, Thomas County Central came back down to earth. The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets fell to the Northside Eagles 62-56. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-61 back in January.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colby Mullinax, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mullinax a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Quincy Anderson, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Thomas County Central's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Northside, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Coming up, Thomas County Central will square off against Veterans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Veterans is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for Northside, they will be playing at home against Coffee at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside is facing Coffee at the right time seeing as Coffee is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
