Preview: Owensboro Catholic Aces vs. Christian County Colonels
Owensboro Catholic is 3-0 against Christian County since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The two teams will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Owensboro Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Owensboro Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 78-60 win over Hopkinsville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, even though Huntingdon scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Christian County still came out on top. Christian County enjoyed a cozy 73-56 victory over Huntingdon. Given Christian County's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 127th in Kentucky, while Huntingdon is ranked 326th in Tennessee), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory got Owensboro Catholic back to even at 3-3. As for Christian County, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Owensboro Catholic skirted past Christian County 52-50 in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Owensboro Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
