McLane took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Fresno Christian Eagles 5-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Highlanders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Chris Jackson and Max Corona did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Corona scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Corona has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Francisco Aleman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McLane will square off against Tranquillity at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fresno Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Coalinga at 3:30 p.m.
