Baseball Game Preview: Farmington Scorpions vs. Piedra Vista Panthers

The Farmington Scorpions will square off against the Piedra Vista Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmington has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Farmington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Cibola, who was ranked seventh at the time (Farmington was ranked 14th). The Scorpions took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Friday. The Scorpions just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Piedra Vista didn't have quite enough to beat Rio Rancho on Friday and fell 3-1. The Panthers have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Farmington's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Piedra Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 13-7.

Farmington suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Piedra Vista in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
