Football Game Preview: Palmetto Panthers vs. Alonso Ravens

The Palmetto Panthers will head out to square off against the Alonso Ravens at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Palmetto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They secured a 12-7 W over Western.

The critical scores for Palmetto came from Serenity Simon and Ashley Alvarado.

Palmetto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Simon, Alvarado, and Francesca Lara picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Alonso faced Steinbrenner in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Ravens were the clear victors by a 27-6 margin over the Warriors. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

A big part of Alonso's win came down to the chemistry between Gabby Werr and her top target Raya Deane. Werr threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns while Deane gained 64 total yards and a touchdown. What's more, Deane racked up 175 passer rating, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Alonso has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.2 points over those games. As for Palmetto, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
