Baseball Game Preview: Crimson Cliffs Mustangs vs. Hurricane Tigers

For the second straight game, Crimson Cliffs will face off against Hurricane. The Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crimson Cliffs has four straight victories, Hurricane has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Crimson Cliffs had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Hurricane on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Tigers. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

COLE MARCHANT looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Crimson Cliffs got a big performance out of BRECKEN PARK, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI PARK has posted since back in March. NATE FINSAND also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Crimson Cliffs pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hurricane, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crimson Cliffs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hurricane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts.
