Highland waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mt. Vernon Rams. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Nolan Houchins looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Highland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Gelly, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Highland pushed their record up to 20-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-19 record this season.

Highland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mt. Vernon: the pair will be back at it again later today.
