Softball Recap: Spencer-Van Etten Panthers vs. Edison Spartans

After flying high against Whitney Point last Monday, Spencer-Van Etten came back down to earth. The Spencer-Van Etten Panthers wound up on the wrong side of a rough 14-2 walloping at the hands of the Edison Spartans on Tuesday. Spencer-Van Etten has not had much luck with Edison recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

For Edison's part, Carissa Cowan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Charlee Stroman, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Spencer-Van Etten's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Edison, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spencer-Van Etten will take on Charles O. Dickerson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edison, they will be playing at home against Whitney Point at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Edison is facing Whitney Point at the right time seeing as Whitney Point is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
