Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Leopards vs. Garfield G-Men

Liberty is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They and the Garfield G-Men will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. Liberty is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

On Friday, Liberty came up short against Struthers and fell 47-34.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jimmond Moore posted eight points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Garfield beat Waterloo 65-60 on Saturday.

Liberty better keep an eye on Devin Bates. He was instrumental in Garfield's win, going 7-for-11 en route to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Bates a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Grabowski, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 15 points.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Garfield, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Liberty couldn't quite get it done against Garfield in their previous meeting back in January as they fell 58-50. Thankfully for the Leopards, Preston Gedeon (who went 11-for-24 on his way to 32 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
