Basketball Recap: Ian Porter Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

East Valley Athletes for Christ won the last time they faced BASIS - Chandler and things went their way on Friday too. The East Valley Athletes for Christ Eagles enjoyed a cozy 62-47 win over the BASIS - Chandler Bobcats. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Bobcats are ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Valley Athletes for Christ to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Porter, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron McAvoy, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

BASIS - Chandler lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Matthew Akpan, who earned 13 points. Wilson Hilgaertner was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The victory made it two in a row for East Valley Athletes for Christ and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for BASIS - Chandler, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-7.

East Valley Athletes for Christ wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-32 win against ASU Prep on the 13th. As for BASIS - Chandler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-39 victory against South Pointe on the 16th.
