After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Weleetka, Cyril was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Wetumka Chieftains with a sharp 54-28 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 26 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Wetumka still got an impressive performance from Dwayne Lowe, who rushed for 200 yards and three scores, and also threw for 34 yards and one TD. Lowe's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. Nick Taylor also helped out with an impressive 97 receiving yards.

Cyril's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games. As for Wetumka, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cyril will host Alex at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Pirates are facing the Longhorns at the right time seeing as the Longhorns are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wetumka, they will face off against Thackerville at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Chieftains will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
