Football Recap: Aloha Victorious

Aloha's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against the McNary Celtics by a score of 33-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Aryel Garcia-Meraz produced another solid performance rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Aloha's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Luca Blanchet was another key player, gaining 125 total yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Aloha proved: they limited McNary to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Micah Currier for the heroic effort on defense: he. Aloha's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.58 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.67 on average over their last five games.

D'Sean Wynter and William Oglesby certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Wynter gained 100 total yards, while Oglesby picked up 132 receiving yards. Oglesby also passed for 44 passing yards, marking his first of the season.

Aloha's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for McNary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Aloha nor McNary have any future games scheduled.
