Basketball Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Marathon Dolphins

The St. Brendan Sabres will head out to face off against the Marathon Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

St. Brendan is headed into Friday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were beaten by Hebrew Academy 65-31 on Tuesday. The Sabres were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-11.

Bella Perez put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Marathon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over Immaculata-La Salle on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Dolphins' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Royal Lions are ranked 165th).

St. Brendan's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Marathon, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

St. Brendan beat Marathon 48-41 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Brendan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
