Football Recap: Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies vs. Savanna Rebels
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Godinez Fundamental). They enjoyed a cozy 36-18 victory over the Savanna Rebels on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.
Henry Vega was his usual excellent self, rushing for 238 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Those 238 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Godinez Fundamental was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 383 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Godinez Fundamental's defense and their four sacks. Savanna's QB won't forget Matteo Picou anytime soon given he sacked him three times.
Despite the loss, Savanna still got an impressive performance from Jake Dorsi, who rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Dorsi's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Perez, who rushed for 64 yards.
Godinez Fundamental now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Savanna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Godinez Fundamental will face off against Century at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Noe Najera and Vega. Savanna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
