The El Cerrito Gauchos will face off against the Vallejo Redhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
El Cerrito made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Albany, but they still couldn't quite topple them. El Cerrito never let Albany get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Saturday. The Gauchos' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Natalia Gawlikowski and Courtney Miles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gawlikowski tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Miles struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Gawlikowski has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Gawlikowski went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and one run, while Miles scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, El Cerrito got a massive performance out of Sanai Vanhook, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Vanhook a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Arlie Tatum, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
El Cerrito was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albany only posted a batting average of .176.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Vallejo and Richmond, and Vallejo kept the tradition alive. Vallejo was the clear victors by a 20-8 margin over Richmond on Monday.
Amayah Davis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Dreah Bernstine, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
El Cerrito's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Vallejo, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. El Cerrito has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .531. However, it's not like Vallejo struggles in that department as they've averaged .562. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
